The Consumer Health Education Center’s (CHEC’s) mission is to improve the health and well being of Americans through appropriate, safe, and effective OTC medicine use. CHEC does so by providing leadership and conducting education and research activities that foster the coordination of industry, government, academia, media, and other sectors. CHEC’s focus is on consumer programs that will have an impact on the safe everyday use of nonprescription medicines, thereby leading to healthier people.
When CHEC needed to establish its web presence, Cobalt was called upon to develop the systems needed to achieve its goals. CHEC needed an efficient way to disseminate information to the public, including large quantities of printed material, and make sure people received the information requested in a timely manner.
Cobalt designed a web site that is easily navigated allowing end users to quickly find information of interest amid the substantial content. To further aid in this process, Cobalt implemented a sophisticated search tool from Coveo (www.coveo.com). Cobalt developed online quizzes which provide a novel way to educate the public on important health issues. Cobalt also wrote custom code to integrate with CHEC’s publications fulfillment house (all publications fulfillment is outsourced to a third-party vendor) to streamline the delivery of promotional gifts and the numerous publications offered on the site. The final result was a launch that was such a success it exceeded all expectations for web traffic and requests for promotional items and further information.
