American Midwifery Certification Board Picks Cobalt to Deliver New Certification Management Solution

January 2, 2008

The American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) has chosen to replace its current membership and certification management systems with Cobalt’s Certification Management Suite (CCMS); a complete solution that takes advantage of the efficiencies offered by today’s technologies including integration with the Internet and the latest Microsoft Office products.

AMCB (www.accmidwife.org), formerly the ACNM Certification Council, Inc. (ACC) is the national certifying body for Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs*) and Certified Midwives (CMs*). AMCB’s certification programs include initial certification, recertification (certificate maintenance) and disciplinary policies. Through these certification programs, AMCB upholds professional quality assurance in midwifery. AMCB is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the accrediting branch of the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA), the national standard setting organization for certification groups.  NCCA accreditation recognizes AMCB meets the highest national voluntary standards for certification programs.

AMCB started looking for a better way to manage its certification programs and all of the applications and candidate information it needed to process by hiring a consultant with industry experience, Tom Blandford of TRB Consulting. With Mr. Blandfords’s help, the AMCB defined the core requirements for the new system then selected the most suitable vendors to give product presentations. CCMS  was selected based on its ability to provide all of the standard certification program management functionality needed in an easy to use, flexible platform able to adapt to AMCB’s specific needs. This, coupled with the many advantages provided by the Microsoft platform on which Cobalt’s products are built, made CCMS the clear choice.

CCMS is built on the Microsoft CRM platform, a full-featured Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. To this Cobalt has added comprehensive functionality for certification program management and a fully integrated web portal. It is capable of tracking all interactions with a candidates and certificants from one user-friendly interface and includes workflow management and automation tools to streamline processing of applications and renewals. Its built-in web portal enables a host of online service tools such as: profile updates, test registrations, application fee payments, status reports and  targeted notices. With these tools, the AMCB’s staff plans to automate many manual tasks, reduce paperwork and duplicate data entry, increase efficiency and provide superior service to midwives.

CCMS is a comprehensive product born from years of certification solution development experience and support by a staff of dedicated support personnel with in-depth, certification specific knowledge. AMCB’s selection of CCMS further solidifies Cobalt as the number one vendor for certification boards in need of more efficient data management solutions.
